Follow the below instructions for setting up the Weather Alerts app.
This will be the first screen you see. Tap to 'Allow location access' This is enabling your current location so you can receive alerts based on where you are at any time.
The next screen here will ask you when do you want to grant the app to access your location. You can choose to always allow it, don't allow or only while using the app. Keep in mind if you choose 'Don't Allow', you will not receive alerts for your current location unless it is also one of your saved locations. If you choose 'only while using the app', you will have to have the app running in the background in order to receive alerts. I recommend choosing 'Always' so you receive alerts no matter what.
The next screen is you granting the app permission to send you alerts.
You will now receive a pop up message asking you if you would like for Weather Alerts to send you notifications. If you would like to receive push notifications form the Weather Alerts app, please tap on 'Allow'.
Now a 'Get Started' screen will appear. Just tap 'Get Started'.
Now the map will appear and you will be on your current location.
Below shows you what each icon represents.
We send push notifications based on polygons.
If you tap on the layers icon, you can add various layers and if an alert is sent out (or if you feel you missed an alert) you can look at the map and see if your current or saved location is inside of that polygon (alerting area).
The Weather Alerts app has a limited number of alert types that they send push notifications for.
Below is a list of the alerts where a push notification will be sent to your device if the alert falls inside of the polygon within your current or saved location.
